Businessmen in Sabah hope to partake in the many investment opportunities in the palm oil industrial cluster in Lahad Datu.
This was among aspirations expressed following a visit to the project on Feb 28 by a group of businessmen representing Chinese Chambers of Commerce in Sabah.
The group was led by the president of the Lahad Datu Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Mr Mok Teng Sang. He hoped that the spill-over effects from POIC Lahad Datu will also benefit the business community in Lahad Datu.
They were taken on a drive-through tour of the 1,150-acre project and given an on-site briefing by Dr Pang Teck Wai, CEO of POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd.
"We are impressed with the nice lay-out of the project and the modern facilities, especially the jetty," said Mok. "We certainly hope to be a part of this project which has the potential to fast-pace the development of Lahad Datu and the east coast of Sabah."
Datuk Kenneth Yen, the president of the Penampang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and some of his members were also present. Also represented were members of the Chinese chambers from Sipitang, Semporna and Kota Kinabalu.
The chamber members were in Lahad Datu to witness the installation of the new office-bearers of the Lahad Datu chapter.
