Melaka is keen to collaborate with Sabah to promote investments.
This was stated by Encik Ariff Sani, the CEO of the Melaka International Trade Centre, during a courtesy call on Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin in Kota Kinabalu on Tuesday, Oct 12. The meeting was held at the office of POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd, of which Datuk Ewon is chairman.
Encik Ariff was leading a delegation of key officials of the Melaka state government on a visit to Sabah on the sideline of the Sabah International Expo from Oct 16-19.
Aside from Encik Ariff, the Melaka delegation comprised Abdul Dullah Bakar (General Manager, Tourism Promotion Division of the Melaka Chief Minister Department), Anuar Musa (Manager, Invest Melaka), Zamri Gafar (deputy director of the Melaka Biotechnology Corporation) and Hairulzamani Othman (assistant manager, Melaka State Development Corporation).
Also present at the courtesy call was Dr Pang Teck Wai, the CEO of POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd.
Encik Ariff suggested to Datuk Ewon the possibility of collaboration between Sabah and Melaka in the organising and conduct of trade expositions.
He said that with the completion of the new Melaka airport and possible air links with Kota Kinabalu, it is possible that the two states can also collaborate to take advantage of Melaka's experience in tourism development.
The tourism industry contributes to about 60 per cent of Melaka's state revenue.
